The dust sheild keeps **** off the lazer lens stops your kid putting crap in the "Hole" etc
if the reason is dust only why they made it black not transparncy ?
I have removed it and gave it a try and the reasult is
800 Meters with out black shield ( rampup then quite for 100 or 200 meters and again rampup untill reached the radar)
200 meters with black shield
the difference almost 600 meters !
=====================================
about the light issue , am not sure I have tested it at night 3 am LOL
anyhow police dont use laser in my country , so i can switch laser off lol
You know maybe i remove the shield and put black tint
to hide the radar behind it , so no one can see it
I have to give it try !
any major damage ? by removing the shield ?

I have never heard of results like that. The shield is only plastic and should not have any effect on radar reception. That is strange.
OK,
I have tested on my V1 , I have removed the black shield
Dont miss understand me guys , maybe it cause problem to my V1 from sunlight
dust etc !
But who is saying that it range wont be effected he is totally
wrong !!
there is big difference , you can try it by your self
you will be amazed ! , i have tryed it on escort 9500i as i said above and now V1
both gave extra 100s of meters with no sheild
I need to know is it becouse of black color ? or becouse of the plastic ?
anyhow why they use black color sheild ?
to protect the linse from sunshine ? or heat ?
cant they use white plastic with sunshine isloated ? (Isloated Tint )

Oh me, oh my.
This just leaves me with:
Don't do that on your future detectors, the people who design RD's as a living put that piece there for a reason...
