Yeah I've finally come to the conclusion that I'm going to purchase the v1 and use it for 3 weeks and decide if its to much for my area or not. If so I'll return it and get a 9500ix. Most of my driving is in the city though.

Save some time and just go with the Escort if you drive mostly in town. You know, the 30 day return policy shouldn't be abused. If you have a good idea what you will end up with, just buy that now. The V1 and the 9500ix are two different animals. Apples and oragnes.

The escort is also $100 more tho. I rather see if I can play around with the Big L for the city and get it to be quite enough & I can turn X completely off here in Florida since its not allowed. I also have never owned a radar detector so I don't know if will mind the falses or not. Something I won't know for sure until its put to the test. IMO I'm not really abusing the return policy, as I truly am not sure & would really would like to own the v1 over the ix. I'm just unsure of my personal tolerance.

Holy sh1t batman! I leave for like 2 days and there were 1-2 871's floating around, and now VR have done another rev!

I am getting thrilled at the non-ghosting issues with the 70's. I hope it continues.

Okay, you make a good point. I have toyed with the idea of turning off X as well. I don't think AZ has anything against it, I'm just afraid to run into a cop who won't let go of the 60's. The V1 is a great detector. I just hear so many guys brag about he GPS and I do think that would be nice in town. That is why I thought you might be good with the escort. The V1 3.864 I just received works great. I run in "L" mode as well, sometimes even on the highway. If I turn off X, I will go with the small "L". Your explanation turned me, give the V1 a shot. I think everyone will like it, even the haters if they would get over the zombie idea.

I don't think that would be possible. The way radars work with bands of beams jumping and reflecting off the bounces create a major problem and will always give that ghosting effect.I do hope that something can be done to minimize these ghosting effects, but think it is a longshot at best.

Not true older models like mine don't ghost.
I think 1.8 non POP are OK as well but it seems POP really did the ghosting affect, does not matter if POP is turned off as well.
