Am I missing something? Are all of you telling this new V1 user to turn off X band without even asking where he lives?
First, he did tell us where he lives. Second, three different people specifically told him not to turn off X band unless he was sure it wasn't used in his area. And third, aren't you going to tell him he should have bought a 9500?

X - 1.8 miles = false location. non forward-facing.
K - 2.2 miles = real radar. non forward-facing.
KA - 3.6 miles = real radar. non forward-facing. "V1 is a religion, and I'm a believer." “Once you live with the arrows, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without them”
True, so I did miss something, which was my first question.

And now that I know he lives in the Chicago area, turning off X band is probably safe.

That is probably what he should do, since he lives in a very big city and is obviously annoyed by the false alerts, but if you paid any attention whatsoever, you'd know I probably recommend just as many V1s as I do Belscorts, maybe more. I call it like I see it, always. This guy would probably do better with a 9500ix than a V1, because of where he lives, but he already has a V1, so that's not really an option.

Jmannumber7, where do you live and drive? There are lots of places that still use X band in the USA. Please do not turn off X band unless you are positive that it is not used in your driving areas.
Somewhere I said I live just north of chicago IL.

Be very sure before turning that off. I run big "L" most all the time and that takes care of my X problem. K and Ka still very good.
I will look up what exactly those modes are, thanks!

Thus far the advice is good, but you need to be careful when configuring automute for K-band. If there is ANY I/O K Band being used in your area, i wouldn't recommend using K automute of any sort.

Stop automuting K band! That 1 LED could be a LEO using I/O. Don't let the next alert be you getting nailed.

I currently am using the upper case "L" mode, K band automute 15 seconds, and POP enabled. Seems to be working better, but I have yet to drive for longer periods of time lol.
Does the first post mean that the automute K band does not work at all nor does unmute at 4 and 6 lights and the turn off rear K band unless option 7 is enabled? In "A" mode is everything you have programmed literally turned off and factory defaults are then enabled, and then once you switch to little or big "L" mode then the previously programmed modes come back? Sorry if thats confusing.
Not sure, but we might be overlooking the obvious. His friend's V1 behaved the way he liked, but his V1 does not. Any chance that his friend might have hit upon the best settings for that area, and perhaps he should try copying them? Did anyone ask if his friend's V1 had been changed from the default settings?
