Am I missing something? 55 feet difference? At speed that would equate to about a tenth of a second, hardly what I would call noticeable. And I owned (past tense) a 9500i. Very pathetic on performance, my S7 X50 absolutely crushed it on K band. But 55 feet???
BY any chance, was your 9500i in auto mode for this test? If so, the 9500i would intentionally desensitize K band by some factor, depending on the speed of the vehicle. But, I'm sure you know this. My 9500i(x) is very sensitive. It's not as sensitive as my V1 on any band, but I'd say it's in the ballpark on every band but X.

I have a Belscort and don't understand the auto mode. How does that work? I'm afraid to try it.

On the 9500i and ix X-Mode adjust the sensitivity of the alerts by speed. A lot of people use it for city mode... So if you are going 60-70 it will be at full alert... 35-40 no... something like that-
One of my friends stated that the Speed-limits will be the next db to add to RDs; so that way it can alert you at a custom mph based off GPS/Current Speed Limit.
BTW I like your sig... lol the whole 3.864 thing...

The auto mode on the 9500i/ix/ci are nothing like that of the X50. The X50's auto mode looks for pairs of weak radar signals and filters them out, since door openers usually come in pairs. It's not a very effective false alert eliminator, but it does help a little. The 9500i/ix/ci's auto mode is GPS based and varies X and K band sensitivity with vehicle speed. For instance, under 15mph, such as crawling through a shopping center, the 9500i/ix/ci will remain dead quiet, while every other RD on the market will alert to these radar sources as normal. The 9500i/ix/ci does not lessen Ka band sensitivity under any circumstance however, since this is almost always a real threat.

I heard rumors of a 3.871 and realized that was for upgrades. I got NOS. It's cool, she runs like a champ! This is my 4th V1, love them all. Even the one with the ghost in the machine.

Thanks for your help on that. Of the two windshield versions of the 9500, which do you like the best? I need portability.

9500ix, hands down. The autolearn is fantastic and the RLC database is useful also.

How about the warning distance on the fixed sites? Isn't it the weakest of the three? In the owners manual it give a distance "or" 10 seconds. How does it decide which?

So you think the ix is way better than the i?
I dont know anyone with an IX to see for my self, but it seems to be getting ok reviews for users so far.
