Where are you from? Illinois? Unless you live in a predominantly laser use area. Id get the v1 first. Good RD detector and the best laser sniffer.... don't count it to save you but atleast you find out if you really need to invest in a laser jammer for your area. Thats my plan atleast.

i live in madison,wi. My commutes consist of highways and city streets. I see mainly cops on the side of the road in speed traps using what i believe to be laser? So im on the fence on this.

When these LEOs are doing speed enforcement are they leaning out of their windows/standing outside of their cars with a "gun" up to their faces? Or are they just pointing it at vehicles?

The former is LIDAR, the latter is radar.

That definitely sounds like LIDAR (laser). Get the Blinder and any decent radar detector to compliment the Blinder jammer. Even an inexpensive Bel V940 or a Whistler Pro78 or XTR-695 will do splendidly for the radar part of the detection and countermeasures part of the overall equation. You mention that you do a lot of driving in town. The V1 likely will be way to noisy with false alerts for your tastes. I would recommend the Escort 9500ix if your city driving is roughly 50% of your overall driving.

You'll need a jammer. On the cheaper(but still very good) side, the Blinder will do nicely. As memtek said, you'll need a radar detector as well. Whistler pro 78 revision C or beltronics v940 will be great, maybe even a step up to the bel v955. Detection range on these two is the same, the v955 just has more features. If you want to go all out and money is not an issue, quad head laser interceptor, escort 9500ci, and V1. You will then be a god of the road.

God I want an EVO, or an STI. I'd trade in my Z right now for one if I owed a little less on it.
