Last night I was driving home from work just past dusk. I had spent part of the time following a Thurston County Sherriff deputy that was using K band constantly. A little while later, I pulled onto a road with some cars following me. I couldn't see the cars behind clearly because of the dark and their headlight. I was going through a small town with a 35mph speed limit and normally speed up to 50-55 afterwards even though it is posted 40mph on this bit of highway before you get to I-5. Just as I was about to leave the 35mph, I got a blast of Ka. It was very short and by the time I first checked my speed and slowed down, it was gone. I couldn't find an LEO but kept the speed down to 40mph as I left the 35 zone. Only after the car behind me caught up to me was I able to see the lights on the roof. Turns out it was a WSP trooper doing an unusual tour of some of the state highways.
The WSP apparently uses IO Ka. If the V1 hadn't picked it up as he hit one of the oncoming cars, I would have been going 15 over with the trooper right on my tail.
