Hardly... as a convertible owner I'd think that the benefit of the concealed display would be obvious to you. Mounting the V1 high puts it in view of everyone. My CD is mounted by the instrument cluster. No need to advertise that I'm driving around with a V1 -- especially with the top down at night.

Additionally, with the CD I can have colored LED's without voiding my V1's warranty.

Had mine in the Subaru clock as well, until I ditched the clock and got some gauges. Since I only got boost and oil pressure, I decided to get creative.....

+1, I dont drive a drop top, but I've got a lot of glass back there, w/out the CD.

I had a cobra before the V1, once pass of a "false" or LEO with C/O and it would develop trains of tailgating cars looking for my reading, starts at annoying, progresses to deadly. Also since getting the V1 I've had a few squad cars pull up behind me at night blast me with I/O Ka lighting the V1 up like a xmas tree, then move onto the next vehicle, with the CD, they saw nothing, eliminating the excuse of "I hate RD and will find anything to pull someone over with one" and it puts the display right next to my digital speedometer so I have the critical information all in one glance, keeping me forever mindful of my speed passing a Walgreens.
