This will let you just mount the knob where ever you want, and not worry about the huge case.
.) To get the board out of the case, first pull both the volume and mute knobs straight off. Then there are two screws on the bottom, and remove the labels front and back.
.)With a solder sucker or solder wick, remove all the solder from the 10 pins holding the knob assembly to the board.
.)Remove the knob assembly and solder on leads to all 10 pins.
.) Add heatshrink to make sure nothing is shorting since all the connections are so close.
.) Connect the leads to correct pins back on the board.
.) Test it out, gotta make sure it works before you put it back together.
.) You could use heat shrink, but the stuff I have isn't long enough, so I just wrapped all the wires together with electrical tape. You can also put the two knobs back on.
.) Put it back into the case to keep everything together. The labels should still be sticky enough to just put them back on.
