Default Loose V1 cable

I have a V1 hardwired and I also use a concealed display.

The end that goes into the V1 keeps coming out of the since since that end thingie that keeps it inside broke. Is there some way I can replace that end tip rather than getting a new cable (and opening everything I had to do to hardwire it)?

Thanks in advance!

You can buy a cable crimper like this:

NEW RADIO SHACK RJ11 RJ14 RJ25 MODULAR CRIMPING TOOL - eBay (item 280164183027 end time Nov-10-08 15:35:47 PST)

and some dummy ends. Then you'd just need to strip a little cable off and replace the connector. Fairly straight forward, but the tools can be expensive (theyre usually like $30).

I don't recall off my head if the V1 uses an RJ11 or RJ14 connector you'd just have to go to a Radio shack or something similar and check.

You can get a crimper pretty cheap, look around. I am not sure but I think you do not have to strip the leads I think the connectors are self piercing. Those wires are super tiny and super hard to strip without taking off too much of the wire itself.

Yeah, sorry I was referring to cutting the old connector off, not stripping the individual wires. Wasn't clear on that one.

Or you can get a new wire from valentine for $10 or get a phone cord from the store that matches the old one.

You can wrap the cord once around the unit and it will stay in place until you get it fixed. Ebay has the crimping tool and ends cheap. I got a pack of 50 of the rj11 ends. It works, and was less than $10 for both shipped IIRC. I got the crimper because I wanted to run the hard wire cable and didn't want to curl up the excess. I figure the amount of times I'll replace the ends when they break, both will pay for themselves. I remove the unit every time I get out of the car.

I believe he wants to do it this way is avoid having to run the cable again.
