    Default POP off

Lan and I were discussing this in another thread, but I felt it was important to bring it up here.

How many V1 users are running POP off, and if so are you getting short bursts or Ka and K up the road? Lan said he tested POP off and it affected short burst K band hits.

Like I said I'll have a video tonight showing how it even decreases range a weak constant on k-band not just bursts.

edit: I'll use a weak k-band door that I can only pickup at about 1400 feet. I'll do 4 runs; all bands on/pop on; all bands/pop off; x-off/pop on; x-off/pop off

I always ran mine with pop on x on in little L mode until I installed the 9500ci. I never felt like I missed a threat in that configuration, but I had nothing to compare it against either.

With the ci installed I turned pop off and x band off. It made the V1 a lot quiter as falses go. But it may have caused the V1 to miss that K band IO shot you were refering to in the other thread.

Based upon what everyone is saying and upon what happened to me if I was running only the V1 I would leave pop on, better safe then sorry.

Cat you got us thinking, with that video.

Funny, I think half the V1 members are ignoring me and my posts, when they are running POP off thinking they are protected.

Yes I know what you are saying, everyone used to say turn pop off, I always left it on though cause I suspected they were using pop mode over in SC. Maybe leaving POP on is the correct way to go. Looking forward to seeing the videos that Languy is going to post.

Hey guys, I tried to shoot some videos tonight and I could not get any consistent results out of the V1, there used to be trees lining the middle of the road and now that the leaves have fallen off I can getting ranges that are all over the place. I guess you guys will have to wait until this weekend when we do the alpine meeting and we should have some results for you guys, using real radar guns. Sorry

I hope the alpine tests shows what I (we) think. My V1 is better with K band when PoP is on. No real difference with Ka performance. I'm using a rev. 3.872 and have all defaults enabled.

Cat and Lan guess what, tonight before I left work turned POP back on. I was passing a CVS with K door openers that my 995 always picked up. The V1 didn't pick up this signal, so as I was driving with POP back on, guess what it picked it up, not super strong but with POP off it never alerted.
