Is My V1 Broken?

So my friends think my V1 is broken. Here is what happens:

On my commute to work everyday I pass 4 construction signs. These signs set off my K-Band fully. In addition, there are several construction signs on I-294 that set off the radar detector. This did not happen when I first got the V1. This started happening within the past 1-2 years. However, the V1 detects police radar perfectly fine and continues to save me.

My friend borrowed my radar detector and said mine falsed a lot more than his. His was an older model however. He said to send it in because it might be broken. Since it is detecting police radar fine, I think it is working properly.

Is my radar broken?

I am seriously considering getting the eBay MSL Escort 9500ix for $350. From what I have read, it will lockout the falses and ease my irritation/desensitization of RDs. It also has redlight camera detection, which will help because they are putting them up everywhere.

Your just seeing more and more traffic monitoring radar drones being put up in your area. It sounds like your V1 is fine. Many message signs in construction zones also have drones emitting radar.

The fixed traffic monitoring drones typically send out short busts of radar lasting around 3 seconds each, whereas the ones in message signs emit constantly from what I've seen.

Sounds like your V1 is just fine to me... a radar detector, that is detecting radar signals is good in my book!


Though the RLC cameras could pose a problem as the V1 will do nothing for you.


If they are a large concern it might be time to switch the a 9500ix (but forget that ebay junk)... buy authorized or direct.

You could get a cheetah system to compliment your V1 for the RLC's though.

I'd say your friend's V1 is broken and he needs to send it in to VR for repair.

Yeah if you buy the 9500ix direct, you will have a trial period to mess around with it. If you like it more then the V1 then keep it and ebay the V1 (They normally fetch a good price). If you like the V1 more return the ix before the trial is up.

I just bought the 9500ix on ebay. The 30% off + 10% coupon I found brought it down to $300. How much do you think I can sell my V1 for? It has the latest software, all boxes, receipts, and the carrying case.

With a carrying case? Heck if you are willing to ship overseas, you might get over $400 for it. (Though I personally don't suggest this... often time it can be a hassle).

Though state-side I agree, you would be around the $350-$375range with the carrying case, and all paperwork to document you are the sole owner and its up-to-date.



One thing that I will say: I would have suggested not buying from ebay... but I hope it works out great for you.

I checked out the seller and it seems legit. Saving $200 is worth the slight risk that something is wrong, but it is factory sealed new, so I can't imagine anything could be wrong.
