Default Even V1 is next to useless against LIDAR?

I was doing 60-65 on a 55 PSL highway on the slow lane. I saw a black car on the right shoulder. So I eased off the gas just in case. Low and behold, I spotted another LEO on the left shoulder shooting LIDAR (LTI 2020?) using the driver side door with window down as support (the outside temperature was in the mid 20s!). The black car on the right shoulder was the chaser. The V1 didn't make a sound even though there were plenty of rabbits in front of and around me. So I made a U-turn to see if my V1 would alert me this time. I drove on the fast lane at 5 below and waiting to get hit. The V1 finally gave me an alert this time but at point blank range (~500ft). I would have been toast whether I use the V1 or not.

I have found that I get a V1 alert about 80% of the time I get hit with laser. As good as the V1 is with detecting laser it is not a real defense. Only jammers give you an acceptable defense, getting an alert from the V1 or any detector is just icing on the cake if you have a good jammer setup. Without a jammer the V1 alert is so you can slowdown and wait for your ticket to arrive.

is it possible that he never targeted or hit you the first pass?

It also matters where your detector is mounted, where the LEO was aiming when he targeted you, IF he targeted you. I run mine in the middle of my windshield with a cig adapter, ive NEVER, EVER, NOT had an alert to lidar.

The V1 is the best lidar detector there is, but alas... it is next to useless against lidar. Jammers are the only way to go for lidar protection.

Could be but I'm disappointed that it didn't pick up any laser scatter from other cars.

I mount my V1 at the highest possible point on the windshield next to the RVM. I suppose the LEO aimed at my headlights because I live in a no front plate state and there isn't a lot of chrome on the front of my car.

I've had the V1 and the 9500ix not alert to a laser hit on my car. The jammers jammed it but the 9500ix did not go off and about a week later I had the same thing happen when I was running the V1. It's just as likely not to alert as it is to pick up scatter. Depends on how far you were from the shooter, angle, and where he was targeting.

Bottom line is if you are depending on any RD to save you from laser you are going to get caught more than you get saved.

I added the bold, just to emphasize the point that I completely agree with, hope you don't mind.
