I'm considering setting the mute button to zero, but I don't understand if K band auto mutes will still come at the lever volume, or will it be completely muted also?

K band auto-mutes will start at the muted volume, then when the threshold is broken (either time OR strength threshold) it will alert at regular volume.
As I mentioned in another thread, I leave my muted volume all the way down, because I've yet to see a LEO in my area with a K-Band gun.
I leave my auto mute to zero but I if I need the RD's I'll be running a quiet cockpit so I will always pickup the initial alert.

Yes.
Typically I leave mute at a volume that I can still hear but is not irritatingly intrusive. I leave regular volume at a level that I can absolutely hear and is starting to border on irritating. I acknowledge every alert that comes through by hitting the mute button and then listening more carefully for how the signal behaves. This also works out better for me because the bogey lock tone and new incoming band tone comes in very noticeably.
When traveling with a cabin that demands quietness I'll turn mute to zero and regular volume to my old mute volume. This setup is a bit risky, as at least once I've had a nasty near-miss where between the interval I checked the detector a threat became extremely threatening. In general while dealing with a quiet cabin I don't go above the PSL much anyway except by accident.
I leave mine all the way down and unmutes at 4 LED's and 30 sec. I never miss the initial alert though as it's mounted just above my line of sight directly above me. I see the arrows flash everytime.

Likewise. When picking a mountpoint I always like it to be within my natural line of sight.
In addition, IMO the V1 excels at UI in this case due to the static placement of big areas of the unit that consistently light up for each type of threat. It makes it really easy to tell by an instantaneous glance whether or not it is alerting.
Never. If I have passengers, I leave the mute volume at 1 or 2 so I can barely hear the alerts just in case but not my passengers.
