    Default Impressive detection

Not really a save so to speak, but very impressive none the less. I'm backing into a parking spot at work up against a fence. The fence is on a steep hill down to a train track and a back road just on the other side of the tracks. The road is probably 200-300feet downhill from where I parked. In between the tracks and road is all trees and shrubs.

Just as I shut the key off I heard an alert from the V1. Now there's a building in front of me so I immediately assume something is wrong.

As I get out of the car, I happen to look behind me down the hill. Sure enough a local Charger running C/O appeared from behind the trees. I'm amazed it picked it up from that location. I never saw the alert since it happened just as I turned the key, so I didn't notice if it showed as front or rear.

I'll post a Google image of the location when I get back to my desk so you have a visual. Times like these I wish I could do over with my 9500i to see if it alerted also.

I'm in the GREEN facing the building to the right.
The LEO is approaching in RED from above in the image (behind me since I backed in). You can see the green decline down to the 2 brown traintrack areas and the tree's etc in between the track street.

Hardwired it tonight....so I guess I'm keeping it.
Or else I'll be buying a new hardwire to return with the unit!

So as I said...I put in the hardwire for my V1 tonight.
How nuts is it that I'm now hardwired for my Escort, AND V1's in my Volvo. I must be nuts. Anyone else hardwired for V1 AND Escort?
I was a little hesitant since I still really love my 9500i Blue, and my trial period isnt up yet. But I went ahead and did it anyway. In addition to a coiled cord looking hidious...I think it seals the deal if an LEO is ever on the line about pulling you over. The cord hanging from the rear view is a dead giveaway IMHO.

Shortly after I finished, I got a call to go help my "brother-in-law" to be...move into his new place. So I headed out.

As I was headed towards Dartmouth MA, I was in the slow lane.
I happened to look in the rear view and noticed a truck right on my azz.
I just continued my speed but kept an eye on him (there was NO REASON whatsoever why he couldnt just go around me. It's a 3 lane highway in one direction, and he chose to me an Ahole and ride my azz in the slow lane with noone around to stop him from passing me. This continued about 2 miles before I really started to get pizzed, and I smacked my brakes. He backed off, then again was back on my bumper.
This time I just took my foot off the gas and coasted to minimum speed till he decided to blast out around me and give ME the finger...like I'd done something wrong.

Stupidly I changed lanes and floored it behind him because after two miles of that shat, combined with the b@lls to give me the finger, made my blood boil.

As soon as I floored the pedal, my V1 went off with a single Ka alert.
I immediately released the gas, and dropped back into the slow lane. He continued ahead riding other peoples azzez and darting in and out of cars for no apparent reason. The alert continued for about 3 miles progressivly getting stronger. Sure enough, a MA Trooper passed in the slow lane with a car in front of it...obviously clueless to his presence. In fact, it seemed as though the car in front of the trooper was accelerating like he thought the car behind him (LEO), wanted to race. They got about 10 car lengths in front me, and changed lanes, then the lights came on. He was toast.

Less than a quarter mile an unmarked MA Trooper sat in the median with no lights on whatsoever. It was grey Charger and you couldnt see more than a slight shine from headlights to notice a car was there. He wasnt running radar as far as I could tell...but I probably could've been in deep doodoo from either one of them without the detector.
I LOVE the arrows, especially at night. I love getting detections on the highway where I KNOW there's nothing around for falses..and I REALLY love Ka alerts when I know its legit.

I love my 9500i, and to be honest...I probably wouldve been fine if I was running it ( I think)...hard to say when it would've started picking up the rear detection...but it was STRONG Ka....as a matter of a fact I approached from behind it, and detected it at least 2 miles away. Anyway...I probably would've just slowed down on the detection of Ka...and not sped up until I knew he was gone, but there's just something about the arrows of having that situational awareness...knowing where the threat is. I loved it. If I wasnt already sold on the V1...tonight may have done it for me. I just can't ignore the fact that I FEEL SAFER using the V1 as much as I prefer the appearance of the 9500i.

Remember that radar is microwave and these signals travel and bounce all over the place, but yes this is only the beginning of your "V1 education", the system is PROVEN and is ready to meet the challenges out there.

If you're getting it hardwired, I would also get the concealed display. Nothing like privacy at night, everything is blacked out.

As far as the jack@$$ in the truck, ya you'll run into those, I'd give him the finger if I passed him when he was pulled over.

I hardwired it already as I said.
As for the concealed display...its already a no question. I'm getting a custom concealed display for christmas.
I couldnt use a V1 without it...its too blatantly obvious from outside the car...that was my favorite part of my 9500i...a cop could drive along side of me with my 9500i blarring full alert and he'd have no idea from just looking.
