Default Going from Ohio to Florida, got some ???

Will be making the trip from Columbus to Jacksonville Florida on the 24th, and am wondering what to expect as far as enforcement methods in each state. Also, I'll be going through Virgina, should I keep running the V1, or take it down through there? Is there a place were I could place the detector to help cut down the distance that spectre could get a hit on me? Like maybe really low or something? I have a 3.819, so I know it's already a little harder for them to get a hit on it, but it's not invisable.

The states that I'll be traveling through are: West Virgina, Virgina, North and South carolina, Georgia and Florida. I know that there's a directory on what's used in what states on here, but I want to see what people are actually experiancing in these states. Like I know that my state has X band listed in the directory, but I have never encountered any X band ever. Anyhow, any info will be appreciated. Thanks, RTT.

If you don't have a laser jammer, don't speed through Ohio as you go down 71 here.

VA don't worry about laser and run you V1 how you want. Watch out for unmarked impalas and chargers. Also look at any new american made car as I've confirmed an undercover Dodge Ram too, every GMC/Chevy Tahoe type vehicle look to see if it is undercover.

The way you can tell if their undercover on all unmarked vehicles is slow down and start to pass them, look in the drivers window and see if you see the LEO Patch on their shoulder. For them to be working they have to wearing this.

NC don't speed thorugh as you don't have a laser jammer and they have k band drones all along I-95. I don't know how to decifer them as I havn't been up against it yet but have heard several reports. Maybe if a member can state what the detector does so we can tell if its the drone. Im able to tell the falses from real alerts by the way it alerts and other factors.

WTF is up with Ohio drivers anyhow? I just spent a week there and was scratching my head the whole time. I usually drive the highway at ten over PSL, and am constantly passed like I am standing still. In Ohio, I was driving at PSL, and was passing EVERYONE like they were standing still. It scared the Hell out of me! I thought for sure I was doing something wrong, but I kept checking the signs, and sure enough, I was doing PSL.

And then some old man -- 80 if he was a day -- actually cuts me off, stops where I can't get past, and cusses me out and flips me off for God knows what! It was totally out of the blue and without provocation. I mean dude, if this guy does this to a WHITE IMPALA WITH A SPOTLIGHT AND ANTENNAE, he's obviously not stable, lol! He's obviously never been to Texas either. You get shot for that bullshyte in Texas. And I was indeed tempted.

Sorry for the threadjack. Anyhow, on every one of the four trips I have taken to Floridia this year, I have been lasered. The usual tactic seems to be FHP sitting off to the side of the highway, perpendicular to the road, shooting traffic in only one direction. It's particularly deadly at night, because their cars are black without much reflection on them. They run a lot of radar from the centre dividers too. But it seems to be mostly C/O, so you don't have to worry too much about ambushes. Good luck!

How much lidar will I encounter and in which states (excluding Ohio). I intend to find a good rabbit and stay about 100 yards back. I'm hoping to find something low riding so I can pick up the scatter well.

I'd say the main thing you need to worry about are unmarked cars.

In Ohio, we don't need to worry about unmarked cars but in other states you do. That's really the worst thing I worry about when driving out of state.

In Ga you will run into K and Ka band in the rural areas and tons of laser around the major cities. Locals cannot use electronic speed measuring devices to give you a ticket until you exceed 10 over the PSL. They can pace you however. No fine for 1-5, very small fine for 6-10, anything 14 and under no points so it never gets reported to DMV,, never shows on your record or insurance.

There is not a SINGLE day just driving to work and back that I don't get cut off, tailgated, hled up and rediculously low speeds or just baffled by some driver that can't make up his mind what country he's driving in. Ohio has the WORST drivers I have ever encountered. Welcome to oh aych.... eye oh!

As far as WV goes, mainly K and Ka band. Down south it's mainly Ka band (33.5 and 33.8). Very LITTLE laser. CO is the norm.

    One caveat:

IF YOU EVER DRIVE THROUGH SUMMERSVILLE (RT 19)-----DO NOT SPEED THROUGH THAT TOWN!!!!!!! It is the "World's Largest Speedtrap". A town of about 8,000 people writes over $8 million in tickets a year. It is not unusual to be hit with radar at least 4 or 5 times on the 7 mile trip down Rt. 19.
