Default Laserd and I\O on at the same time

Yesterday when I was comming home from my friends house. I get a breif Ka alert and then 5 seconds later I get I/O 35.5 ka band and look down the street a leo the the side of the road facing me shoots me with I\O and then shoots me with his laser gun while he leaves his radar on. Why do you guys think that he did this?

So he could be awesome and check "Estimated", "RADAR", AND "LIDAR".

It's like deja vu all over again!

(Translation: This is at least the third time in the last few months that someone has experienced the exact same scenario and come here to ask WTF. )

The moto units in my father's home town do this all the time. They run C/O Ka, visually estimate speed and then verify with laser. In court, this would make for an untouchable case. I'm pretty sure that's why they do it. It is strange to get tagged with laser after having already slowed down for the Ka alert, but I'm absolutely fine with that.

Usually they do this for convenience -- radar will give you the speed of the fastest car on a dense road but is tricky to use as good evidence that the readout is YOUR speed. Thus, run radar to figure out the speed of the car that's most likely to be the fastest, then once that speed looks interesting confirm it with a laser gun.

Radar doesn't require holding a heavy device and aiming carefully, unlike laser.
