Default Another great save last night around 12:30 AM

I left a dinner party at my parents house last night to make the 20 min drive back home. Part of that drive is kind of a gauntlet at night for LEO's.

As I'm cruising along I get weak K band alert ahead and it continues to build to full strength, where I see a local LEO in a Charger pass in the opposite direction. Middle arrow, rear arrow, and the signal starts to drop off.

Then BOOM K band from the rear full blast.
The charger must've pulled a U-turn. I move slowly to the right lane and have one other car behind me (but can't see the LEO). I tap my brakes repeatedly to attempt to warn the mini van behind me that is still creeping up on my rear. They bolt to the left lane (having seen the LEO disappear a while ago in the opposite direction), and as they pass me in the left lane make eye contact with me. I give them the hand signal that somethings behind them and to slow down.

She ignored me and continued by me. Now the LEO was behind her in the fast lane and she was completely unaware of it. He trailed her for a while (probably running plates) then on when the lights.

The arrows worked perfectly in this situation. I knew where the LEO was the whole time.

Can't say I didnt warn her

Well at least you tried to warn her and were a good samaritan its not your fault she chose not to listen to you.....if she would have had arrows or any RD for that matter she probably would have known.

    yup.
I love the arrows, but I've come to the conclusion that they're not really necessary.
They're just a great tool. Basically if my 9500i was on the dash, I would've still known he was approaching or I was approaching another after I saw him pass.

Basically, if you have an alert regardless of arrows, you're going to slow down...but still...I feel like I have one up on the hunter with them! And the concealed display with V1 gives you much more info than the smartcord does from Escort...all while hiding the blatantly obvious display on the windshield.

Great example of the arrows at work. And Props to you for being an "active" driver and at least trying to give other drivers a heads up. I usually just work the brake "two taps" and leave it at that. Hand signals are too easy to misunderstand. Nice post!

-some times I do it because I feel like I'm helping other fellow drivers.

-sometimes I do it to impress them when they realize I had such a early warning that the LEO was there

-and sometimes I purposely let them blow by me if they're driving like an @zz

10 years ago I was driving to Austin about 25 over the PSL. I had my Dads old Passport Solo which was quiet and I catch a glimpse of a Mercedes SL500 roaring up on me. At the last minute he switches lanes and hides behind me. I was a little intimidated so I coasted down a bit but he's slowing way down. Like hitting the brakes. A second or two later I get a big BAM Ka hit and DPS is shooting Ka IO right at me from the right shoulder. After we pass the Mercedes takes off and I was so impressed I went out and bought an 8500 the next day.

Careful there, I've disproved that several times in the last week!

The best was today when I made a Mitsu eclipse with an 8500 on the windshield just above the wipers became my rabbit. He was booking it a little faster than I usually drive, but I usually lack any rabbits. I closed the 1/4mi gap I gave him several times because I could quickly identify the srouce faster and identify when it was no longer a non threat, instead of worrying of the signal was around the next corner. I also had the Bogey counter so the spot on that drive with 2 k falses next to each other I confirmed was empty of threats, unlike a night earlier this week when that same spot generated 5 alerts, both K and Ka. I also noticed @ my 1/4mi following distance I was able to get the alerts about 3-5sec before he tapped (or slammed) the brakes

I knew where the LEO was the whole time.
And that right there is the very reason I've the RD in the first place, increased situational awareness!

But I keep quiet when I get my alerts, nobody need know I've the V1 that's why I've got the CD
