Default future owner of a V1

I was just looking at the prices of the V1, on its website the price is $399.00... but I think last year was $499.00 or the price of the unit has been always 399.00?? I'm just curious about that.... I see on some resellers online the price is $499.00

I have riht now a blue X50 but last week i got a ticket. the radar detector alert me for Ka but just for 2 seconds full alert and then the RD was silent again, I pressed the brakes but it was already to late, right there was the cop, it was at night and he was hidden so I saw it just when i passed him and he put the lights on.... I just felt like he turned the radar gun on and then off again...
I dont know if he turned the radar gun on and then off, or if it was a hard ka band to detect....

I'm thinking about getting the V1 because on all the test looks like the better one, and so many times that my x50 gave me an alert im just wondering if the cop is in front of me or behind me... obvioulsy is so much easier with a v1 to know where the signal is coming from....

The V1 has been $399 forever. It sounds like you got drilled with I/O. When properly executed, I/O is unbeatable.

Let me correct Mr. DJ. I believe when the V1 first came out, pre laser it was $299

I think what he meant was that its just been like that for a long time. Though, in literal terms, forever is forever, and if it was cheaper once upon a time, then forever IS a incorrect statement.

Thanks Paperlantern, yes, I meant a long time, not literally forever! It was never $499 from VR.

    I know just busting chops.

As for the $499, many companies are reselling them at the higher price, one reason is to resell them overseas since Valentine does not, or to people who do not know better.

Even a V1 can't protect you from a properly executed I/O shot, like djrams80 implied.

thanks for the replies... and whats I/O, is it like instant on?? is it similar as pop mode??
so if the officers always use I/O then there will be no need for radar detectors...
I'll give it a try to a v1, I have 30 days anyway to return it if I dont like...

    Yes, I/O is instant on.
I think I'm leaning towards the V1 as a first RD, but I'm not sure :\.

Instant on is when the radar unit doesn't transmit until the operator pulls the trigger, as opposed to CO (Constant On) where the radar unit transmits all the time.

POP is a very short burst of radar from what I know, shorter than a "regular" radar mode......I always compare it to the Laser Atlanta Stealth mode, some of the veterans here would understand why. POP is barely used anyhowz, and per the manufacture's radar manual, should not be used in court.

I would not say there wouldn't be a need for radar detectors if all LEO's used IO, because if you have a rabbit, you can detect the IO before hand and slow down.
