    Default Ka ramp-up question

If there's a forward-facing C/O Ka source from a cruiser on the same direction and stopped in front of me, the strength meter should be half way until I'm in front of it, right?

The strength will depend on how much is being reflected back towards you as you approach the cruiser. In alot of cases it will be very weak and ramp-up as guit123 describes as you pass.

Not always, depending on the terrain, his distance from you etc.

Interesting encounter today. I ran across a CO Ka on 34.7 that gave a full alert at least 1000 ft away and probably more. The topography was hill / valley / hill (not a huge variation, maybe 250 ft top to bottom). I got the first alert before I completely crested the hill I was on(he may have been cresting the other hill at the same time) and hit full alert by the time I hit the top. I was looking for him to be close, and he ended up being across the intersection that was at the valley of the two hills at least at the 1000ft mark or more.

    This was on a 8500x50.
