    Default Random Laser Rear Alerts

I'm not sure if my V1 is jammed or not or what's it's doing, but I'm on V1.8, and I get a lot of random alerts for Laser Behind flashing every few seconds to minutes. I'm not sure if I should be sending into VR or not for someone to take a look at it. It's been happening more than a year now, I just haven't taken the time to research the issue. I did call VR about it once, and they said I would have to send it in for someone to take a look, and there's a decent $$ charge for someone to look into it. Has anyone had a similar issue, or have any idea what the problem might be? I've gotten so used to the problem, I just ignore it.

Well there could be a few things here... laser falses are well known in the Belscort community to come from noisy electrical systems, its not a far stretch to say that a V1 could be impacted as well.

Also what kind of car do you drive? It is possible... however, unlikely that something like your brake lights could be reflecting off objects behind you and bouncing back which your V1 is picking up.

Also: It could be your cell phone, I do believe the V1's sometimes used to go off on X/Laser on older cell phones (or certain cellphones rather).

Your V1 may just be kicking the bucket... the good news here is VR very rarely charges for servicing their units... as long as you don't ask for an upgrade or anything, they normally fix problems with no charge (though thats not their official policy) their CS trumps their official policy: aka AMAZING customer service. Send them a small letter with your V1 explaining why you think something is wrong with the unit, and they should take care of you... I would dare say I give you 90% odds of there being no charge... especially if they find something wrong with the unit.

I have an '06 Accord Coupe and I have a Blackberry Curve (had a LG Chocolate before) for cell phones. It looks like they charge $45 for service to cover the cost of diagnosis and repair.

See if there are any late model Infiniti's behind you next time. I think they have some type of adaptive cruise control that might trigger it.

I have sent my V1 in more then most people here... their customer service is top-notch!

Just don't ask for an upgrade (they charge for that).

Again it is their policy to charge for repairs, but their Customer Service is outstanding, and very helpful with any issues you have with your V1... so they may charge you, and have the right to by all means, but if their is an actually problem with the unit, they may not... they care that much about keeping customers.

Also... I agree adaptive cruise controls could be another reason.

It is most likely not your blackberry, it was just a suggestion to look into.

No, there's no Infiniti's behind me. It's pretty consistent, and it's not when I'm braking either. It's actually not even that random, it's pretty consistently going off Laser alert behind me practically all of the time.

I wonder if there is something else in your vehicle that might be causing these random laser alerts? You may just have to send it into VR for a fix up.

I wonder if its anything like the video DJ made. Although you ruled out the Infiniti, I'm wondering if it's even remotely the same.

I gave VR a call. They said to try the V1 in another car to see if the same thing happens in another car. If it does, they said to send in the V1, and I'll have to pay $45 for someone to look at it, because it's no longer under the 1 year warranty.
