I just got my new V1 and I want to thank everybody for helping with all my question. I hope V1 would do good with all the 35.5 ka band here. I just had one more question. I see pop is turned on. Should I leave it on or should I turn it off. Does Pop on or off increase range on k or ka band.

I would turn it off too, unless you want to know when you are near a Cobra.

I have to dissent from the majority opinion here. By choosing the V1 over a 9500 in the first place, you've already resigned yourself to the fact that you are going to get more false alerts. The occasional J-out isn't going to so significantly add to that cacophony that it drives you insane. It is simply not worth the loss of detection just to lose a couple J-outs a week.

Some here will tell you that POP detection is useless since cops cannot legally use it in court. Nonsense! There are a lot of things that cops cannot legally do -- and they know it -- that they still continue to do everyday. And they are not going to admit to using POP in court, even if you are astute enough to ask. What are you going to do, tell the judge that the officer must have been using POP because your RD didn't alert? Ha! Bend over!

When you turn POP off, it's about the same as locking out an entire band of radar when you cannot be sure that it is not used. And yes, that includes Floridia, where it is very definitely being used.

The idea of turning off a band is to increase performance, not decrease it. Therefore, turning POP off is usually just not a wise move.

I think regardless of what RD you choose you need to just drive around with it to get used to it. It doesn't hurt to keep in mind programming options but don't go off with them right out the door.

What I meant is that it's on K band and Ka but there are certain Ka guns that are POP capable. I wouldn't worry too much about POP since you have better chances of getting I/O...
And yes' you're right about I/O being in all bands
