    Default Safe-n-Sound remote

I got my splitter and remote mute today and it's a pretty neat product. Looks to be made from Radio Shack parts but the quality is pretty good and it has decent documentation.

I got everything wired up and it's a great setup. Really cool the way the main unit is completely blacked out following boot-up! I can also switch between modes with the remote mute. I still need to work out my RD mounting but that's the easy part following the wire running part.

The remote display is the main reason I switched from Escort. The red/green led display is really a dud...

As soon as I get my V1 tuned it'll be time to look at some jammers

Could you please post pictures of the splitter and mute hookup? I'm curious as to where the split occurs and what actually gets split. Also, a closeup of the remote-mute button RJ-11 plug would be SUPER. You're the bestest!

I'm actually on the road right now (in a hotel) but I'll post some pics next week when I get home.

The splitter is just a standard 3 way phone line splitter with the power wires coming out of the back of it. It has a little fuse on the (+) side.

It's just like this one. The 3 outlets are marked "main", "acc" and "acc". The RD plugs into main, the remote plugs into acc and the remote button plugs into the other acc.

The mute is just a momentary button

It's just like this one only the button is black. I mounted it on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. It's connected to thr RJ with what looks like speaker wire.

It would be easy to do yourself if you knew the RJ11 pinout.

Both items were less than $20 shipped so I wouldn't fool with making my own

Well....Funny thing... =) I went ahead and messed up the attempt making 4 of these little buggers so far, and I still have another 4 to ruin. I'm not a fan of that button style, though. I have some surface mount buttons that I'm going to mount IN my stickshift. I LOVE holding my stickshift. ;-) Anyway, I suppose I'll pick up one of these splitters and give it a shot. Thanks for your input!

I'd be carefull unless I knew the pinout. You don't want to run voltage into the wrong wires and toast your RD

If someone wanted to make one like the safe n sound, does anyone have a pic of how the switch is connected to the rj11 itself? Do you just take the 2 wires ground and yellow wire and connect it to the switch itself?

you do that but add 10K resistor in series also.

Anyone know if the safe n sound one has the resistor?

Also, when you add it, the yellow wire or the ground?
