So I dropped by my local Radio Shack yesterday to pick me up a Pro-106 scanner for my car. The sales lady was probably in her early 20's and as she was ringing me up for my scanner and 800Mhz antenna she asked why I was purchasing the scanner. I told her it was going to compliment my Valentine v1 in picking up traffic based law enforcement. She asked what's a valentine.
I informed her that it was a brand of radar detector and it was the highest performing windshield mount unit on the market. She said she never heard of it and that she thinks I got scammed. She then pointed to the Beltronics units they had hanging on the wall and said the Beltronics Vector units were the best radar detectors on the market. I laughed and literally said..."You're kidding right?" I told her that I had previously owned a Bel Vector 955 and that it was actually a really good RD but didn't come anywhere close to the sensitivity of the V1.
Finally, she said she thinks I should "trash" my V1 because it's not really a radar detector. I walked out of the store laughing!
And to add insult to injury she told me that scanners can't pick up police radio traffic.
Radio Shack is a really great store...except for the employees
Anyway, I posted in the Valentine One forum because I wanted to inform everyone who owns a Valentine V1 that you've been scammed and that you don't own a true detector.
