    Default hardwiring v1

hey everyone, so i just got my v1 this morning and i want to hardwire it asap. I thought it would be an easy job but im confused. First, do i have to buy an additional circuit or something cuz it feels like im missing something. Secondly what actually goes into the fuse box this is the part im confused about. i know hot to ground the wire. The blue pinch thing where does that go? Can you just pinch it to the red hot wire? Where do you actually hook the circuit up? Im just so confused right now.

I have a 07 civic ex if that helps.

I am assuming you got the hardware kit, correct?

If you are not going to be splicing, us a Add-A-Circuit to tap into an existing fuse in your fuseblock. Otherwise you can use those taps (Pinch as you called them) to tap into a hot (Power wire) and ground, or you can ground it yourself.

Isn't this covered in the owner's manual? The wire tap is for the power wire. Clamp it around a wire that is switched with the ignition (unless you want your V1 on all the time) and squeeze tight. Plug the red wire into it. The black wire terminates in a screw terminal. Not surprisingly, this terminal goes under a screw Make sure you pick one that is grounded, then go ahead and enjoy your hardwired V1.

Step one. Pull out the owners manual.
    Step two. Follow the instructions.
    Step three. Still confused?
Step four. Find a friend who isn't.
Step five. If you still want to go at it. Purchase a cheap voltmeter. $2-$4 at your local hardware store.
Step six. Learn how to use it.
Step seven. Learn which fuses in the fuse box are bad to mess with. Usually circled with bright yellow markings. (airbag)
Step eight. find a circuit. Once you find a circuit, you'll need to determine if it is switched or not.
    Step nine. See step one.
    Step ten. See step two.

    Done.

The total time to install the hardwire device in the fusebox is about 5 minutes max. That includes checking for a switched circuit. Add another 10-15 minutes to run the wire to the detector and that may take longer depending on how stealthy you want to make it. Custom installs like some have done on here, take days or months if you include the planning and time it takes to acquire stuff.

Go to walmart, radio shack, harbour freight and buy a cheap voltage meter. Every home should have one. Simple to use and it will help a lot. Should not be more than $10.00.

Depends on your car. Mine has an accessory tap on the fuse box that took the spade connector on the red wire as-is.

I have an 02 RSX so i am guessing our fuse boxes are similar, but i found a open accessory tap which always provided power when the car was on, which the red spade pushed onto with no modifications.
