I've been scoping my 2002 Acura TL for the best way to conceal the V1 unit. I have both the CD and the remote audio modules I can use- but I have noticed the more things you add, the more strange happenings occur- such as the mute button isn't as responsive, or there is a delay in sound coming out of the audio unit. So the least amount of extra stuff is desirable for me.
I started considering mounting to the top side of the driver's visor- this would require no extras- just look at the V1 itself. and the sound is good. but there is the metal bar for the visor in the way, and the roof line is in the way as well. So no laser from the front. and reduced sensitivity due to the metal in front of the front antenna.
My latest idea- take the passenger's headrest and hollow out a cavity in the foam, then cover it back up. still no laser coverage, but I think the radar coverage should be pretty good, and the concealment excelent. Would have to use the remote display if I go this way. I think I will be able to hear the v1's alert quite well, so no need for the audio unit.
Anyone tried it? Any other mounting ideas for deep concealment?
