    Default Already miss my V1

I sent my V1 off yesterday for a tuneup, and I already miss it!
It's been quiet lately (part of my reason for sending it in), but today I came across a DPS officer. I have no idea if he was using radar for sure, of course, but I slowed down quick and he didn't chase. Maybe I got lucky and he was using forward radar, because I can't imagine I saw him with enough time to avoid rear Ka if that's what he was using (and what I figure he would have been using).

Anyway, I hope VR doesn't take too long!

    I know how you feel!

I sent my V1 in last week and thankfully she is coming home tomorrow just in time for the weekend. I have felt those strange looks from others as if I were literally driving naked around town. I can not wait for Fedex to get here already the suspense is killing me!!!

    Hang in there!

It only took them about two weeks for mine and that is only because they really gave a through and complete "check-up" to make sure she was alright and ready to go. It would have been only a week the tech Mike told me but he wanted to make really certain everything was operating correctly.

You have to have a backup. Another v1 is preferable.

I agree. A backup is almost a requirement.
A sub $200 model is easier to leave in a closet for months at a time, AND can actually be very amuzing to use, for a few days.
Yer not so nekkid, just dressed a little funny . .

If possible, we have even more appreciation of our returning V-1.

Well I just got my V1 back and I noticed 2 things:

    1) All of my previous settings were reset to factory defaults. I plan to run with it like this for a few weeks just to see the differences (if any).

    2) My front and rear lens were replaced with brand new ones as the old were scratched up a bit from being dropped a few times. Looks really nice!

I was gonna sell my extra one but I decided to hold on to it for back up.

It's kinda expensive to have a second just solely for backup, and I've found running dual v1s is great, especially if they're different versions. Now I definitely know when one needs to go back for service.

Silly question.. I am pretty new to V1 (just over a year) I heard its recommended to send your unit for service every year or so. I really havent seen any performance issues so is there a reason to send it in anyway? Any feedback is appreciated! (ver. 3.864)

I personally would only send your V1 in if you suspect performance issues or receive an "E" error. Two reasons behind this approach:

    1) You won't unnecessarily cost yourself $45 for a just because reason (although it is always better to be safe then sorry). I found during my recent check-up which was caused by getting a one time E which was due to a power issue a while back that they won't charge you if nothing is wrong or if it is relatively small to fix (i.e. simple tune or calibration).

    2) You won't drive yourself crazy like I did waiting for it to come back (provided you don't have a back-up RD but still even then i would worry).

Bottom-line: Unless you honestly believe your V1 is not at its "A" game then send it in. Otherwise just enjoy the saves to come!

P.S. It is also helpful if you leave say K band on even if it is not used in your area as it can provide a tip-off if the V1 is having any issues. For example, if it doesn't detect a fixed K band speed sign at its usual spot or is drastically reduced.
