Do you ever turn the volume down when you get to certain spots you're very very familiar with?

Well... the V1 served me well. But I was totally off-guard this morning when I'm on my last leg in a local route this morning. The unit is on, but volume is off. Noticed an unusual K-band signal and I knew the trouble is coming. Then I noticed the cherries on me when I stopped at a light.

No. Either on at a significant volume, or off.

So, the volume wasn't the reason you got the ticket, right? Because you visually recognized it? IO I'm assuming?

Just got mines not to long ago, and it stays ON, and stay on HIGH volume

Nope. Never. The most dangerous thing you can do is let your guard down. Your radar detector is your set of eyes into what your human eyes can't see. What does looking familiar have to do with radar/laser threat? Probably nothing.

I've passed by enough threats even in my hometown where my reaction is "Whoa, they use THAT spot?" or "Hmm didn't know they used K-band around here".
