Default Is my Valentine One damaged?

For the last week or so I have been getting a large amount of laser false alerts.

When I first got this detector about 2 months ago I got a false laser alert every other day or so.

Now on the drive to work I get sometimes about 40-50 laser alerts. Some alerts even last 30 seconds with no cars in the area.

It has come to be so bad that I had to disable the laser on the V1.

I noticed that, this only occurs in the day-time, not at night. Lately we have been getting more sunlight since the winter season is over. Can these false alerts to contributed to that?

What are my options now? Send this in to V1 won't be cheap as they charge about $60 to ship to Canada and i'll also have to ship it to them first.

    Has anyone experienced this issue?

What kind of car do you drive? Is it an Infiniti or Lexus with adaptive cruise control? If so, the V1 could be reacting to the cruise control. I'd try the V1 in another car and see if the same thing happens.

It could also be electrical noise, esp. if your car's battery or alternator are having issues. Once again, trying the V1 in another car should help.

Where is the V1 positioned? Try another location, maybe it's picking something up inside the car. Which arrows are lighting up during the laser falses?

If the same thing happens in another car, send it out for service. VR will take care of you.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

I will give it a try in another car.

I have the V1 positioned as high as possible on the windshield. My car doesn't have any adaptive cruise control or anything like that.

Its always the forward arrows that light up during the false alerts.

I like the suggestion of putting the detector in another car, but I am sure VR will take care of you if it continues to happen.

I have been getting a few laser alerts with no cops around, but then again, I could have picked up some scatter and not seen the cop what so ever, since there were cars around when this happened.

It might be the sun hitting your hood, and that sunlight hitting your v1?

So sunlight can set off the V1?

yeah it can but it's rare. My older 955 would go off all of the time from the sun, I actually never had the v1 false from the sun. If it does false, it is from led sings or an infinity.

Don't know why my V1 didn't seem to do this the first few days. Maybe it was just good luck that I didn't pass any Infinities, and such. But I was plagued to death with false reports of laser.

Since I had a jammer, I turned off V1's laser detection.

Still there is the occasional false alarm on the LPP jammer, but not often.

Today was a pretty cloudy day and to my surprise not a signal laser false all day.

So this problem has to be attributed to the sun.

However I am pretty sure that most people that use the V1 in sunny places like California would have a worse constant laser false alert than I if sunlight was an issue. I think it must be the unit itself.
