Default Why is my V1 alerting!!!!!

I have had my V1 for about 6 weeks. Works great. It goes crazy in a shopping mall (duh!!). It is very consistant in that I will get a quick alert on the freeway when passing cetain side road businesses. It has been very predictable with 2-3 J outs.

All of a sudden 2 days ago I am getting x band right in front of my house and within several blocks of my house. Also on a short canyon/rural stretch I got some signals (k also I think) which is several miles from my house. I have NEVER gotten a signal in either of these locations before. There were NO LEO's present.....I am absolutely sure.

What could this be. I don't want my V1 going off when there are no dangers.

    Thanks for any input...

    DH

Automatic door openers at stores/shopping malls operate on the same frequencies as police radar (X or K band). So detectors do pick these up. City mode (L mode on the V1) helps somewhat.

As for getting an X hit in front of your house: did you add anything to your house recently? In particular, anything with a motion sensor such as an alarm system? Some motion detectors operate on X band. How strong a signal are you getting in front of your house?

What mode do you run your V1 in? A, small L, or big L? Big L offers the most filtering on X band.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

Is there any other traffic around you? Other detectors emit radiation at certain harmonics that are identical to police band radar.

You can get alerts like that from other radar detectors in that particular area at that time where you got your X and K band alerts.

    Thanks guys....

I have changed nothing at my house.

I guess some neighbors might have changed garage door openers...but they have to be in use correct? But like I said this just started happening 2 days ago. From my house to about 1/4-1/2 mile away I get 1-3 lights and sometimes multiple hits (2-3)......its like someone in the area is playing with radar......maybe from aircraft....I'm close to Point Magu.

The V1 is definately working. Lit up full Ka band on the freeway and I started looking around. Finally way up ahead CHP was pulling over someone in front of me.

No, they do not have to be working. I can pick up a signal sitting in the garage or driving by but just one way. I have mentioned this before and Roy and Jim were surprised that my opener emits X band but when I moved in 98 I took the opener with me so it emitted X band at my old house as well.
Also a lot of things use X band, we have a trail that runs for several city's and at some street crossings there is a double X band motion sensor that turns on yellow caution lights if someone is coming to the crosswalk.
Fortunately we don't have to put up with X band falsing as we have X off in CA.

Are you saying you that you programed your V1 not to alert to X band at all???

Yes, shut that succa off! X band has not been used in CA/NV in probably 20 years. Careful in Oregon though.
I don't know where you live but here in the drone zone I have K band automuted at all eight LED's as well. Unless I am bombing around town as all of our local LEO's use K band so I just simply switch to A mode (overrides all K band automute settings)

I appreciate this info. I will check the manual on how to do this.

But I might want to see for myself that no x alerts are real threats.

    Are you absolutely sure..........

    Thanks,
