    Default Thinking of Switching

    Hi,

I just got my 8500 x50 Blue 2 days ago and thinking of switching to V1.

I just found out that my area where I drive uses laser and the V1 has a superb laser detectability than the 8500 x50.

I drive mostly freeways CA 101 & 405's and Canyon driving where there are alot of turns and hills. I do not want to waste money and regret this in the future.

Either the V1 or the Blinder will be my next purchase.

So far I have been using the 8500 x50 and I have not encountered any problems yet. I am just worried about the many falses that the V1 makes.

Can you turn off certain bands on the V1? also I am worried about the instant on. how comparable it is to the 8500 x50?

    Thanks!

does it share the same hard wire kit.

What I am trying to say is the x50 looks like a telephone jack does the v1 uses the same.

I already hard wired mine and do not want to remove it.

While I would definitely choose a V1 over any Escort, laser sensitivity is not a reason to do so. Forget laser. It doesn't matter whether your RD even has it or not. It won't save you. You WILL NOT be saved by a laser alert, no matter how soon you get it. Once you hear it, you're already pwn3d. It's just a gimmick that costs you a hundred bucks on your RD. If laser is a threat, you need a jammer, period.

But yeah, the V1 is an eminently better RD than the 8500.

V1 is one of the best in detecting I/O.

I have picked up Laser scatter more that once, BUT dont count on it...BUT again it has saved me more than once...get the jammer for sure, if you can afford it...but the V1 can save you a few times if everythings just wright, I have been shot with Laser about (12) times since I got the V1 and (2) saves so do the math, wasnt over PS every time...but have gotten a few tickets that a jammer would have taken care of, most of the time the V1 just lets you know to pull over.

I used to own the escort X50 and its a dam good radar. For the price you paid for the X50 blue, i would return it and get the V1. To all those escorts fans, them Arrows on the V1 freakin owns the highway. If you cant return the radar, stay with the X50 and get a good jammer. There is an overkill performance on radar, but never on jammer.
