Default v1 continues to amaze me...

Driving on 51 North today toward Rockford. Get a KA alert ahead and it keeps going and going and going....nearly 2 miles! Sure enough a ISP K9 officer sitting in the lane accross the bridge and around a slight curve  with his gun on. Simply amazed me. Granted the wind was blowing in my direction but wow!

I wish I always got that much range....

    I like this guy...... :!:

Cracks me up 2X now. First was the comment about not buying his X50 on ebay.... "I think we determined that...."

Now he can understand me to boot!

Ya Radarboy had made another comment 3 pages into a thread about how it was his opinion that no one should buy a detector off Ebay.

No, Really? Did you come up with that all by yourself?

The direction of the wind effects Detection Range.
What, you did not know that?
I thought that was the firt rule of radar detector basics.

I guess you need have Professor Jimbonzzz give you a refresher course in basic radar wave theology and physics

The wind carries the doughnut scent with it, so that's how you can detect a cop from a further distance when you're downwind from him.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

    Wow thanks Professor Jim.
So let me see if I understand. I am travelling on a highway east to west.
The wind is coming from the west. Cop ahead shooting radar in the direction of the wind his range has increased as would my detection range.
Therefore range decreases in the opposite scenario.
    Gotcha.
BUT.......what happens if there is a very strong NORTH wind.

Does the radar beam blow off the road making it ineffective.
