    Default V1 Mute

    Could have missed this in the manual, but will V1 alert to new radar signals when an existing signal is muted, for example Ka when K band is muted?

    I use the external display and I've yet to experience a Ka alert while K band is muted. To my experience with existing Escort products, when a band was muted and a new band was detected it would alert at full volume again. I just don't want to mute the device and forget about it if Ka band will be muted as well when the alert comes in.

    Sigh...

    Yes it does. Using the V1 concealed display doesn't change how the detector sounds.

    Sigh...Maybe you should read the question in more depth. I wasn't trying to insinuate that it would change the detectors sound. If the V1's mute button is initiated on K BAND and a new Ka alert comes in, will the V1 alert Ka at the muted volume, or alert at full volume like an initial alert.

    Both bogy lock tone with a single Ka blip will occur at regular volume then stay muted.
    The strongest band ID and arrow will be blinking.

    There are four ways to bring back regular volume when muted:
    Wait until the signal is gone for ten seconds for an automatic reset.
    Cycle through modes until you end up at (A) mode again.
    Cycle the power for a reboot. (off/on)
    Turn up the muted volume lever. (quickest way)

    the mute button is about an encounter, not a particular band
    if you have not modified '8' or 'A' in programming-mode(still set to Arrow UP);
    ALL additional signals will be reported with the Bogey Lock at full volume, followed by one full-volume band-ID alert

    Yep, it gets your attention (quite well, I may add) and then just continues to sound a muted alert for what it considers to be the most urgent threat. 9 times out of 10, when I get an additional alert while muting an existing alert, it is simply a false. I'll just occasionally glance up at the bogey counter to see if the other source(s) are still around to determine if they deserve any additional attention.

    My main concern in such a situation is going to be after passing the 1st source, that the 2nd source remains and is growing in strength. Many times it is usually another cop with a customer, but on a couple of occasions in the past, it was actually another cop a bit further down the road either running radar in the opposite direction, or picking off people who thought they were in the clear after passing the more visible trap.

    The arrows paired with the bogey counter and strength dirplay make it very easy (for me) to figure out what's a real threat and what's a 'false.'
