I was not going to post this since I have had nothing but positive experience with valentine research but the mention of this one lady keeps popping that gives an excellent company a bad rep.
I bought my detector in July and within 30 minutes of plugging it in, I got an E in the display and it started to make a beeping sound like a truck backing up or something. Unplugging and replugging would fix it but it would come back in a few minutes. Called VR and a nice lady said send it back and your shipping receipt and we will send you another unit and refund the shipping cost to us (thats called excellent service). Well, I sent it overnight and I got the unit back in 2 days. I was extremely pleased till I opened to find that they had repaired the v1.
I am old with OCD so to me that detector was not new any more, it was refurbished, plus I never got reimbursed for my shipping cost to them. So I called VR back and got the dreaded old lady. I explained the situation and was told that the motherboard was replaced in the detector and it is a new detector. I tried to reason with her and she said the only way I will get another detector would be to return this one and buy another one. I then inquired about my refund for shipping to fix the detector and she said that since I am going to return my unit, there will be no refund I asked if I could speak with someone else and was told she was over the customer service department.
Long story short, after another 30 minutes of argument, she agreed to refund my shipping cost to them which was initially promised to me and then said make sure to return my detector within 30 days and if I buy another one, I will have to pay a $100 restock next time I try to return it.
This was such an odd experience from a great company that everybody praises that I decided not to share with anyone. But every once in a while I read about this person in different posts and wonder who she is and if any of you guys have met her face to face
