Guys, is there an alternative to buying a new cigarette lighter adapter from V1? I've got plenty of cords, I just need something that plugs into the cigaretter lighter and provides an RJ11 connection. The V1 part is $$$.
Thanks.

How much is the V1 part? An Escort one should work just fine. If not, they have 12V connector-to-2 wire connectors at Walmart. From there, you could connect the + to + on the cord, and - to -.
Never mind the Escort ones, they're even more expensive. Freakin 14 dollars (plus shipping) for a simple coiled cord.
There are some transistors, resistors, and IC chips in the cig lighter - Im sure it offers some sort of protection to the RD in terms of shorts and surges... Id be carefull in doing a streight line to the RD
Wait, what type of Escort business are you talking about? If it's what I'm thinking of, and they conduct it the same way as they do their power cords, pimpin you top of the class for straight from the ghetto product.
Guys, thanks for the tips and suggestions. I bet I have a brand new 8500 X50 cord sitting in the box, unused. That would be the quickest solution. I'll have a look tonight.
I hate to say this, but why? A power cord is cheap insurance, it has a fuse it in it, why save a few bucks for a $400 detector?
Also, you can use a Bel/Escort cord just can't go into programming
I checked my inventory of detector bits 'n' pieces and found a virgin Escort 7500S cable that works just fine with the V1.
