Default Concealed Display, too bad it does not include a speaker

I find it a little awkward not having the sound come from the display.

Has anyone come up with a DIY mod to help with this.

I almost prefer no concealed display. I keep ending up looking at the a black box that's beeping at me.

VR sells a remote audio adapter as well.

You could tap the audio from the RJ11 plug and run it to a small amplifier and speaker, but you'll lose the muted volume functionality. The V1 remote audio adapter has its own mute circuit controlled by the data stream coming from the V1. To DIY that you'd need a microcontroller in your amplifier box to interpret the data and know whether the V1 is in mute or not.

So the V1 Remote Audio connects via RJ11, can I hook up both. Does the Remote Audio have a speaker or just a jack.

You connect the Remote Audio adapter up to the accessory jack on your V1 hardwire or lighter plug. Then you plug the Concealed Display into the 2nd jack on the Remote Audio adapter.

It has both a speaker and an earphone jack. It's marketed for motorcycle users, but it can be handy in cars too.
