    Default Thinking of returning V1

I was at a stop light (first in line) and the V1 was blinking away and I wanted to adjust the mute volume a little while sitting at the light.

After the light had turned green I noticed I was adjusting mute volume against a REAL LEO. Sitting right dead ahead in on coming traffic stopped at the same light also first in line, ugh.

What bothered me the most is I realized I had become completely immune to K alerts. This was only a day after I borrowed my wifes car which had the 9500ix in it. It sure was quiet.

So I called V1 to see if I was still under 30 days. More just to know my options. I had not decided yet. She starts haggling over the exact day. Escort was a breeze and even if you went over no problem.

Then she brings up I had returned one like 6 years ago and may get slapped a restocking fee. I said how much and she says I don't know.

Then I asked to keep the hard wire kit and just charge me for it. She said that will be another $50.00 (it costs $19.00).

I said you sure make this hard. She said "We sure do". I was so pissed she helped me make my choice. Escort was such a breeze about returning 9500ix I almost didn't.

Yea, not sure what you were trying to state to us with that story. Were you implying that the V1 was not working properly because YOU told it to mute a REAL threat? Were you implying that your non-chalance in dismissing K alerts is because the V1 crys wolf too often?

You're coming off as though you're angry at the V1 yet it was/is behaving perfectly - as intended. If I'm interpreting the situation correctly than I second your decision to get rid of it. If your driving style and awareness aren't up to par for the V1's alert sensitivity than you definitely need a set it/forget it solution like a 9500.

As far as the lady at V1, she's been discussed many times here. Nobody has submitted her name, probably out of respect for her, but it is consensus among V1 fans that hanging up and calling back is the best option if the voice saying, "Thanks for calling Valentine Research Sales, this is ____ how can I help you?" is from a female.

I find it odd that you would ignore a full strength(8 LED's) K-band alert, whether it was muted or not. You did say he was facing you so I assume you had a full strength alert?
    Typical K-band falses rarely exceed 4 or 5 LED's.

I've returned a V1 before, it was a 3.826. Then I bought another one later, it was a 3.851 and I knew I couldn't return it so I sold it for what I paid for it. The good thing about having a V1 you don't want is that you can sell it easily and not lose any money or lose very little.

Why on earth would you return a 3.826?
It's the second best iteration VR ever released.

Not the one I had. My 3.826 was no good. So far, I'm really happy with my 3.872 though.

Just send it back asap if you are close on the 30 days, they will inventory what is missing and deduct it from your refund, it will not be $50 for the hardwire kit.

As for returning one 6 years ago, they will not hit you with a restocking fee, typically if you buy and return in say a year's period you will get hit.

As a note for the restocking fee, they will call you if you order a unit say a second one in a years time and note that if you return that unit you will be charged before they ship that unit to you. Sort of a warning.

Actually my .826 is on par with my .813. I've been very happy with it.

IMO, It's looking like the 3.872 could be the modern day '3.813'. I really haven't heard anything negative about it yet.(no ghosting, no "E's", good performance, etc)
