OK. I decided to get the 3.872 for our up coming "Clash of The V1's". Unit is just a few days old. I was really leery about getting it because of the "J"ust Be Alert issues plaguing the POP V1's but was forced to get one for the up coming test any way.
So I had to do some test runs with my new 872. I was driving and was approaching the hill when I got 2 Ka blips and there you go, the familiar sound of the dee daa dat, the "J" alert. I looked around to check if there were any cars around me and could not find one.
Now the surprise. Folks this is very promising. I have used my 826 for a good amount of time until this year when I sold my 826 and switch to an 812 to 813 and back to 812 with Ka guard off lately because of the "J" alert issue. When ever I get a "J" alert from my 826 after a few Ka blips, the V1 is mostly silent for a good amount of time whether you get a "J" alert from LEO or from other RD's.
What was interesting after my first "J" alert with the 872, just within a second after the "J" diappeared from the bogey counter, I got a 1 dot Ka blip.... another Ka blip...(this was romantic music to my ears and fell in love with the 872) and got stronger as I crested the hill followed by a full alert. At that point, I saw LEO coming up the hill(35.5 radar). I said to myself, WOOOOOOOOOWWWW. This has never happened before with my other POP V1's. Folks this is very very promising to know that VR is working on this issue. This is what I was looking for on a POP2 V1. One other thing about it, my ride was even quieter than using my 812 with Ka guard off.
A for VR for hearing our compliants and working for a solution for this particular issue.
