Default Valentine One hard wire to 2002 Mercury Cougar.

Today I successfully direct wired my V1 and Concealed Display unit.

I used the blue "Wiring Harness Connector" a.k.a scotch lock included with all new V1's direct wire kits to add a circuit onto the radio fuse wire. The proper wire to use for this method is yellow with black stripes (not the thinner black with yellow striped wire), and is the same for 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 Cougars. I first grounded the black wire onto a bolt that holds the fuse box to the rest of the car. I then plugged the red wire into this female scotch lock using the pre-attached quick disconnect male plug (which is on the red wire). The power adapter is hidden behind plastic to the left and front of the fuse box. I have my main unit high and level attached to center of the driver-side visor, and I used Velcro to attack the Concealed Display right in front of my gas meter. The power cords are all hidden pretty well!

I could not find by searching the internet anyone else with my type of car to do this, so I figured I'd post this as a bit of a how-to.

Oh... and I returned my Escort Passport 9500ix to Best Buy today for the full price I paid a few days ago. I just told them I was there "to return a defective unit," and thus, I didn't have to pay a 15% restocking fee on $540.

***I'll post pics a bit later today***
