Default How did ya hook up with a V1?

Back in 94 my Dad got a new 500 hp supra. When he went to the states later that year he had one Ups to his hotel (I still have the slip  ). 1 or 2 years later on a hot hot (women involved) New Years eve a 500 hp supra car crash Happen and the V1 was no longer needed. Some years later I found his old V1 in his garage one fine day, so i asked him can i have it. After going on and on about the blue supra he gave it to me  . I had no idear about detectors etc. My job's a coach driver so my interest shot up like a growing unpaid speed fine. The Ka was not so good on the 94 modle so i went down to the local pawn broker the guy gave me $ 400 nz :!: ha i like that V1s all look the same :!: So i had $400 bucks in my hot little hand. The local V1 price was on the moon at the time $1600 nz so no go there got a bell 990int was ok but replaced it 3x due to it very very poor build. then i got a 'New release Rx 65" that lasted a month before it was out the window the never stopping Ka falses made me say bad things  .That was the best thing i ever did. Mate I hooked up with a new V1 813 at that time and i have never ever looked back so thanks Dad for giving me life and thanks or the 500 hp supra (not my fault all yours you gave me the keys ) But most of all thanks for the old V1!!!!!

That's kind of like me ghz1. I got rid of my V1, tried others, but came back. I was a victim of the V1 bashers. But I have tried others, done that. I like the X50 (in wifes car), but I got to have my V1.

After going through several earlier model BELs (745STi and 855STi) that were total junk, I was driven to spend the $400 on a V1. Plus I had to wait a month to get it because it was on backorder. And it was worth every cent!

How long ago was that? I mean it being on back order? I remember people having to wait to get one but that was years and years ago.

It was a long time ago, back in '97 when I bought my first V1.

My first RD was the Escort Solo ops: I REALLY thought I had the best detector that was in 1997-1998. Then I saw an ad with this nerdy looking guy holding the ugliest RD I had ever seen. It looked like something from the 70s it was our man Mike Valentine in a V1 ad.

Then I got ONLINE around the same time 1998 at home and started to read about radar detectors and it was like a "hobby" of mine and the only place to get info at that time was epinions.com. and similar sites. After reading all the rave reviews and the 1997 C&D RD test I decided upon the V1.

When the V1 finally arrived at my front door I was full of anticipation. I was delighted to see how well built the V1 was with its sturdy magnesium case, intuitive to use and EXCEPTIONAL DETECTION. My plastic Escort seemed like something for my then 6 year old son. WOW the ARROWS how could I ever have driven with out them? Now I really like the looks of the V1 and am glad that I did hook up with one

Will never settle for anything less then the V1. Once you have the ARROWS you cant go backwards to not having them. Its sort of like having the most powerfull pc then expecting someone to start using a pc from the early 90s imagine that??
