    Default First V1 Moment

This Tuesday the saintly FedEx man brought me my new V1, which I've been using since then to replace my RX-65.

This morning I had my first real encounter with it which, coincidentally, also made a meaningful use of the V1's display. I had just passed one of those silly digital message signs with the K-band drones in them. The arrow moved to the side, then to the rear as expected. Then, just as I would have expected it to die off, I got the new bogey tone, 2 bogies, and a flashing forward arrow. Half a mile up the road was a PSP trooper lurking in a cutout in the terrain that they made for them.

I know this is old news to most V1 users, but after my recent ticket I received in very similar circumstances I feel pretty happy about my purchase.

(I also made a mount for it out of flat aluminium strips that hold the suction cups up. (I don't trust suction cups.) I just finished that this morning; I'll have pictures and maybe a writeup tomorrow.)

As long as the user can understand and interperet the V1 display they're golden. Glad you like it so far.

Good choice. The V1 is a beast. got to love them arrows. after using the V1, i wouldnt go back to anyother detector. The arrows , boogey counter, sensitivity makes it a complete package.

K band. Always. I've heard rumors of PSP Ka band activity near the Eastern end of the state but I've never seen it myself.

I had my first major save last night. There was one officer shooting laser at traffic and 8 cruisers waiting to hunt down the victims. However one left his KA rear on and I saw them coming 2.5 miles away. Perfect ramp up.

I have noticed to take the short weak KA alerts seriously and not pass them off as cobras unless I hear the J out noise. I was going up a big hill with a weak KA signal. I slow down and as soon as I get to the top nailed by instant on. Sneaky sneaky state troopers!

Two saves in one day (the second one would have totally screwed me). It has already payed for itself 3x over.

    FAIL. [replacer_img]

It's a terrible idea, but wouldn't it have been brilliant if you had stopped, with the detector on and blaring away, and let them know about it. You know whoever left it on would never hear the end of it.

Terrible idea. A better idea is to find a laser or I/O trap where the radar wasn't left on and then park out of their sight and C/O traffic with a Bushnell to warn them.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!
