    Default valentine tune

What kind of an improvement is usually seen? The only function I'am concerned about is ka range. My range seems to average a little over a mile ver817
    Thank in advance

Mike, welcome aboard! How old is your unit? When was it last serviced?

Most likely it will need a tune. After so many years it's range will diminish. I sent in my 3.812 because my X band was dead and my K was going.

As far as distance, you get miles with line of sight. LOL. Just have it tuned up. Your concern for Ka range will go away.

My Ka is around .75 to a mile. And that's after a tune. YMMV. Me thinks you should be more worried about Laser in that area. Seems that's what everybody is using now.

In hollywood ka is #1 ,the economy has raised thier daily ticket quota , and they are totally dedicated .The speed traps are rediculous.Well if you tuned your V1 and 3/4 of a mile is what you get ,then I'll just leave mine alone. I'd rather just sell mine eventually and use the tune money towards a new one.

    Thanks for all your inputs

Question... why do Valentines need tuning? Aren't they digital devices with a DSP that's not subject to drift? Aren't the antennas fixed position and not subject to warping? Curious... just seems a little odd, sort of pre-DSP, for a receiver to need it.

Maybe its analog What bugs me about the V1 is you might not know your unit is out of tune until its too late

actually technically it is not tuning, but repair. When a v1 goes out of tune it has actually broken. The old ones were bad at it but the new ones really don't have any problems anymore and if they do, now you have the "E" message meaning error, so you know to send it in for repair. You only hear about problems from the old V1, no one in a 3.684 or newer model has much if any problems anymore.
