I put it here because it's not scientific at all and I don't suggest this was any type of controlled test.
Here's the low down:
Both sent in within a week of each other to get a check up (Mid-November).
Both mounted high and level, in my truck, about 36" apart powered on at the same time. (Even though this is frowned upon, this is the most practical way for me to do it. I don't have fancy toys like radar guns).
Ran them together for one week.
I had seven actual LEO encounters. It was a mixed bag of X and KA, no K is seen around here. I encountered forward facing, around the curves, and over the hills, all were C/O.
3.864 POP Off.
The Result?
3.813 is more sensitive than 3.864.
But by how much? Well here's the interesting part.
Contrary to what others have experienced, my 3.813 did not destroy my 3.864. On all seven LEO encounters, the 3.813 alerted no longer than two seconds (~200FT) before the 3.864. And that only happened twice. The other five times it was a second or less.
Other observations:
The rear antenna on the 3.813 is noticably more sensitive then on my 3.864, by as much as 700 feet. That was impressive, but came with a hitch -
My 3.813 ghosted three times. Yes, three times all against LEO's coming at me. It seems the rear antenna is so sensitive that it picked up the LEO's that were in front of me and reported it on the rear antenna as well, giving me two bogeys. Not happy about that.
The 3.813 and 3.864 were nearly identical on 'falses' except for one particular false by me. The 3.813 picked it up five seconds (~500FT) before the 3.864. This was X band.
So to answer the question: Is the 3.813 hype?
No. I've seen the videos, I've read the test results, I've read the real experiences by members on this forum. I believe them.
Now I'm posed with more questions. Are certain 3.813's hot? Snoopyc4's and happya$$'s may be. Maybe my 3.864 is hot? Possibly. Maybe it's just more reliable? I've never had any (I remember one) ghosting experiences. Maybe a certain batch of 3.813's are better? Mine's a 717. That's pretty late in the 3.813 run isn't it? Maybe I really did experience interference? I didn't notice any, either using them together or seperate, either against LEO's or falses.
