Went down to Richmond, Virginia for a few days with a bunch of friends for my buddies 21st birthday. Took I-97 to Route 50 to I-95. 97 and 50 in Maryland were a complete joke. PSL is 55 traffic was doing 80. I was averaging around 95-100 in MD. Saw one state trooper in MD before the Woodrow Wilson Bridge with a victim already pulled over who left his radar on and of course, the V1 alerted and gave me plenty of time to slow down before getting close to him.
I slowed it down Hellginia and put the mustang on cruise control to 90, so at least if I got pulled over I wouldn't go to jail. Had a few rabbits, shockingly they were all from New Jersey and New York. Had a rabbit from Massachusetts as well. First Virginia trooper I saw was sitting in the median looking for HOV violators no radar though.
First trap was shockingly, a mile into Hellginias greatest invention, The Highway Safety Corridor aka get raped out of your money for speeding. Here's what VDOT's website says, "Tickets for speeding could result in fines up to $500 in Highway Safety Corridors. Criminal offenses, such as reckless driving or driving under the influence, could result in fines up to $2,500." Trooper was sitting in the median running Ka band. Got almost up to a mile detection with the V1. I had the V1 mounted next the the RVM and when it would alert I would turn it off after it reached 3 to 4 signal strength dots.
Another radar trap by the good ole Virginia State Police in Fairfax. VSP sitting in the median with Ka Band. Got a 8/10ths of a mile detection.
Again, a trap was near exit 152 in Dumfries, VA. VSP using selective sloppy I/O Ka band. The V1 gave me my first alert about 9/10ths of a mile back. Cut off the V1 after 4 or 5 alerts and down the road was the trooper in the median.
Saw a bunch of people pulled over near Richmond, no radar encounters though.
I didn't run into any radar on 95 on the way home amazingly. Just people pulled over everywhere in VA as usual. No radar traps in Maryland either.
Saw one thing in Virginia that freaked me out. Outside of Richmond I saw a light blue Toyota Sienna (Guessing around a 2006 model) completely hooked up with blue lights and tinted windows issuing someone a ticket. What the hell. Has anyone else ever seen this? F**k Virgnia. Couldn't tell if it was county or state due to the illegal tint on the van. Watch out for that. Anyways, great performance with the V1 glad I purchased it.
