Wow! The set up was easy and dummy proof. Plugged it in and away it went.

I have always had Corbra radar detectors and a passport for a few days as my friend wanted mine so I sold it to him. Turned around and got the Valentine.

I must say the range on this Valentine is amazing!

Congrats on a great detector purchase!

Run it in A mode so you get a feel for how and what it alerts to.

V1 is a great detector, but it does not make you bullet proof. Learn to read the signals that are coming in, the ramp up, signal strength, etc. I can tall from how the V1 alerts whether it's something to concern yourself with after having one for so long.

I'm not saying learn to ignore any K or Ka threat, I treat then all as threats until I can verify the source, but most of the time I know it's a false or not, just better being safe than sorry.

Thanks for the advice. I do think I am gonna have to get that accessory that you can tape in the front of you. Not for hiding from other motorists (i could care less if they know I have valentine) but it will be much easier to read the alerts. Do you have that accessory? Does it help a great deal or is it a waste of money to get one?

I think it's a waste. In a few weeks you will be able to tell the alert type just by sound. All I ever look at is the arrows and bogey counter, mostly arrows.

Try it for a while before you get the concealed display. Most likely you will find you do not need it. Others may differ with me here, as it's mostly a personal choice kind of thing. But I would wait and see how you like it without before popping for the $.

I had one and hated it, mostly because the sound still comes from the detector, so when it alerted I looked for where the sound was coming from only to realize the display was blank!!

I use a CD because I love the color (languy mod). My cd is located right that my speed-o-meter so my eyes are always in the right spot. Cd is 40 bucks or 100 bucks modded. Search around the web and you will find a mute switch that is great for the V1. After a month or 2, you may want to program the v1 K-band suppression.
