I got a weird alarm. The valentine went on displaying a "J" in the bogey counter. Looked in the manual and can't find info. Should I be concerned and what is up with this? Thanks.

Check your manual again ... it's in there, page 15 & 16.

RTFM it detected a "junk signal" usually a weak false from another detector, Cobra's tend to do this, but I've had a few others do it as well, and sometimes the Cobra leaks so bad that it won't J put just provide the Ka alert. Also it can occasionally J out real police radar so you do need to keep an eye out if you see it.

when do you get the false Ka and get the "J" signal ?
Because on my V1 3.872 hads the Ka guard on or off setting
i had it off one time and i got a Ka false but no "J" in A mode
I had two cobras behind me today, it was flashing the J and also alerting to the other cobra. It was having a hard time canceling them out, I really hate cobras.
Turning off Ka guard pretty much turns your V1 into a RDD. So, it'll start detecting other Cobra RDs like crazy.
I would turn Ka guard back on but would turn off POP. I've tried Ka guard off on Hwy 6 before and I could not differentiate between a Ka false and I/O (or QT) from TX DPS...
