Default What Are Best Program Settings for V1 in Houston Metro Area?

I looked in the local/regional area, and apparently Houston metro uses all types, I have been hit with Ka,K,X through out the areas I have been through, there are many smaller village police through out the area I travel. Any way to quiet down the V1 through programing since I need all bands on. The cheetah c100 is not a choice. I have the V1 in big L mode. Thanks in advance.

I don't believe anyone uses KU radar in the US.

Fwiw. The V1 comes from the factory with KU band off for this very reason.

As far as quieting down the V1. You can go into the settings and make many changes.

    Ask Mike - Report #3

I've tried different settings for my area and ended up back at "factor settings" with Big L on and POP off.

To keep the noise down. I keep my V1 mounted on my visor with the volume low, or turned all the way down. I've gotten used to it, plus I just watch the arrows, bogey counter and strength meter anyway, and then use my best judgment based on what I see on the RD.

Are you looking to copy settings from someone on here, or are you just looking at programming yourself?

The reason why I ask, is because someone posted step by step "their settings" a while back. Maybe someone has them saved??

I used these setting, and my V1 was quite.. Too quiet imo. LOL

My V1 hardly went off at all. Maybe this was just a coincidence? lol That's why I just returned back to the factory settings plus what I posted above..

Why don't you try running the V1 with the volume low or off? If you don't like it, you can always turn it up, or then make changes.. I can't stand hearing the beeping over and over again... Some may like it, but I can't stand it. Riding with Veil Guy would drive me crazy.. lol

Of course by doing changes in the settings, you can make it to where your V1 will stay muted until the signal strength gets high.

Too bad the V1 doesn't have an auto mute like the Escort or Whistler. It's not that big of a deal though.

Since you need X band, and the Cheetah C100 is "not an option" for whatever reason (and assuming the Cheetah mirror is also "not an option"), then mute weak k band for 30 seconds, and turn off laser alerts. Also, put it on Big L, which is designed to filter out X band falses.

Well I already have the C50, but the C100 is expensive when you look at the V1 interface module also. Plus a Cheetah rep told me the new model will hit in about a year and I could wait. But I need the laser alerts on ha. I am gonna do the Auto mute. That sounds like it will solve my minor issue. Its not really a complaint about the V1, if I wanted quiet I would of bought a 9500, but I bought this for the arrows and range detection and I am very happy with it. I just wanted to know what will tone it down a bit. And it is already on L mode. I just don't want anyone getting the idea that I dislike the V1 in any way because I am in love lol.

I also had the same issue, wanted full range, but quite, but give I/O alarms for quick response. With I/O and X band around, I found that running the V1 in little L mode with 7 and b arrows down, any weak X and K alarms would be at tab volume, barely noticed, and anything else would be at a loud main volume to hit the breaks to without thinking. Works the best for me with I/O.
