I'm expecting to get my V1 this week So I'm looking for anyone who uses V1 in the suburbs of Chicago? I know X-band isn't used around here but is there any suggestions with the setting I can change when i get my V1?

Okay thank you. Here is the setting i have been thinking when i get my V1
X band: Off
K, Ka, L bands: On
All Euro features: Off
Ka Guard: ??? (help me out)
Normal Responsive or More Responsive for Ka?
POP: On
Beg to differ about x band being used in the suburbs surrounding Chicago. Crestwood IL has x band, Stickney IL has x band, Wheaton IL has x band, Aurora IL has x band, Freeport IL loves to use x band, Orangeville IL loves to use x band. So most areas surrounding Chicago, you are probably ok but the areas listed above, just remember as you are forwarned about x band as it has been seen by others here on this board. Indiana and Ohio still use x band daily.
I would run V1 in A mode all times. It's alittle chatty in city but you would get used to it. As the time goes on... you will be able to tell when it's a false/real alert.
Since your new to V1...
X band: On - If it's a threat to you
K, Ka, L bands: On
All Euro features: Off
Ka Guard: OFF
Normal Responsive for Ka
POP: OFF
Like I said, outside of several years ago when I did come across the xband on the Tri-State, I have not encountered it since. But that is NOT saying is aint out there because you just proved that, prouddma! I havenot been through any of those towns but it would be fun to travel on through them next time I am in Metro Land to see if I get a hit or two!
Yet another reason why NEVER to disable xband because ya just never know!
Try the V1 w/ POP on for a little while, then POP off for a little while. Depending on how many Cobra rd's (leaky) you pick up, you will figure out the whole POP on/off thing. K band seems to be a little stronger w/ POP turned on, but you will figure it out. I say mix it up, turn POP on for a little while, then turn POP off for a little while, and keep going back and forth until you have finally figured what's best for you. MIX IT UP A LITTLE!
If x band falsing bothers you, then use the big L (advanced Logic mode) on the V1. If it kind of bothers you, then use the little L mode (Logic mode) that offers some great k band auto mute filtering, but you have to set it up in your programming menu for it to work. A mode or (All bogeys mode) doesn' have any muting and is a great setting for the open highway or freeway.
