Default I really wish that Valentine would update their radar detector.

I have to run with the X & K Bands completely off in my car, otherwise I will constantly get false alerts. I've called them about the problem and their solution is to just turn off POP. I don't have POP on my V1, so I must run with it turned off.

I've been considering getting a new radar detector and have looked at some tests on GOL website and even though it older, the V1 is still at the top. It just sucks that they can't update it for use in newer cars with the features that cause these false alarms.

Anyone know if they are even working on anything? I don't care if it's a new update detector, I'd like to seem them just update the software to work with newer cars if that's possible.

Last I checked, running with X off is fine unless you are in NJ...however, running with K off is probably a pretty bad idea. As far as falses...set up some AutoMute settings and run in Logic or Advanced Logic modes.

Falsing is a fact of life for V1. That's the side effect of being so sensitive. It's not that annoying really unless you have passengers. Sometimes I just turn it off if I know I won't be speeding in city traffic.

I doubt it. They probably will never add GPS. Their philosophy is why change the V1 when it works just fine the way it is for most people.

You have some sort of radar cruise contraption on your car right? Well, I don't think your situation will improve if you get a more up to date RD that has more filtering capabilities (Escort, Beltronics). Another guy on here has a radar system of some sort on his bimmer and it interferes with his Bel STi-r.

    Agreed.

The V1 is perfect, it falses, but that is its nature. I wouldn't want them to add gps to the V1. I love the way it is, but what I would like to see is more ACCESSORY options like the Cheetah c100 or gps mirror, that integrate with it and give you more options along with gps for the falses without changing the way it operates, i think of the V1 as PC its complicated and you can program the way you want it, and the 9500ix and ci are more like the APPLE, sleek and sexy for people that like it right out of the box and performs great. But the V1 doesn't need internal change that can cause issues, yeah it gets improvement from firmware updates that just make the good, better. It is the time tested champ of RD's. IMO the V1 is perfect how it is, i do not want to see all the new gps/trulock stuff inside the v1, but i would like to see more accessories to make the V1 more customizable. i like the V1 in its raw form. my 2 cents. sorry if i made no sense...im tired....doing midterm papers

I'm real familiar with the auto mute and have been trying to come up with a scenario to work with my car. I do know that even with an auto mute programming, the LED's would probably die out because they all go off constantly in all directions, LOL!

Maybe you could recommend some reprogramming based upon what false alerts I get from my car. Here's what I get with my car as far as false alarms. I've read the reprogramming and understand most of it but when I comes to the auto mute features, it's a little confusing.

In All Bogeys, Logic & Advance Logic Mode I get mostly K-Band alerts with about 2-3 signal strength. X-Band will come up sometimes with 1-2 for signal strength. For your information my software version is 3.789

I did print out and "carefully" read the V1 owners manual and will try this reprogramming scenario. Not sure if this will help but it's possibly going to be able to allow me to drive around without turning off the K & X Band. I know the lights will be just constantly going off. If someone has some helpful advice for this let me know.

    1) On
    2) On
    3) On
    4) On

    5) More responsive

    6) Guard On

    7) Features b thru G enabled

    8) Muted volume set to zero

    A) Volume is set by Control Knob

    b,C,d) 30 seconds

    E) Unmute at 4 lights

    F) Unmute at 5 lights

    G) Mute rear K-Band

    H) Ku off

    I) NA

    J) NA

    u) NA

    u-) NA

The V1 will never be updated. What's the last feature they added, POP? LOL. All you frustrated V1 owners should just move to the Escorts now.

Now, c'mon...will the escort get rid of the alarms I'm receiving because of my Audi Lane Assist? Just throwing something out there without any proof is just useless.

If you go to the Escort side then I would look at the CI or the Redline. This is the only two that will give you the same or better protection.
