Brent Vino, got a laser ticket
    http://www.radardetector.net/nailed-by-laser-5098t.php

No detector will save you from a smart officer waiting to for an idiot speeding to blow by him...Flips radar on for a second and you are nailed....V1 does great about warning you of stupid cops attempting to use instant-on radar....Unfortunately there are not many stupid cops in NY !!!! Most of the time the NY troopers are either instant-on or sitting there waiting for an idiot to blow by them....

But usually people don't get radar tickets if they utilize smart driving with a detector....With a CB and laser jammer you can be a bit more risky cause you will know where the trooper is sitting 99% of the time, and if it's laser you are well covered

    With a CB
What will be your suggestion for a CB , I travelled the 87 , Plattsburg to Manhattan. A medium priced unit . Can I use a portable CB thus avoiding an external antenna and still pick-up a signal decently ?

    Thanks.

I think any car-mounted CB is pretty much okay, a good antenna is what you would want to have though. Me I have a old Realistic 40channel mobile unit, manufactured - 1989 :? hooked to a splitter to the car antenna. The performance is nothing to write home about, but I have a normal CB antenna that I would use if (when) I was going on NY 87 again. I think the CB can be very good in NY due to the HUGE amount of trucks on the route and the similarly high number of police (as we know). Can't wait to try it out, I still have too many problems with the car to go out for a fun ride, I have taken it out for a few minutes now and then, full throttle 100-160km/h but still need to get my inspection maudits cons chez CAA

For Me the only ticket that I how received with a Valentine (technically) was operating a radar detector. I was testing both the V1 and Bel 970 after receiving the Bel back from a repair for a display and firmware updating.

I have been ticket free for speeding since 96'. Since my first speeding ticket 45mph in a 30 zone, I then got a Uniden 2300 which was one of the best (for its time) before the PCS (1.9GHz) cellphones and Towers came into play.
