Where would be the best place to buy a V1?

Valentine Research is the best place and if you want to save some money you have to call and ask to be on the returned unit list $359.
No one has been able to tell the difference but until a few more weeks go by you might have a problem getting the new 3.826 version as I doubt you will be able to request it with this method.
Marlinspike has an early POP 2 for sell, PM him and maybe you can cut a deal.

Unless something has changed, returned V1s are flashed to current release level before shipment. I've done 2 over the years and they are indistinguishable from new.

I have had mine now for almost a month. Shouldn't all brand new V-1's be the new 3.826 version?

go to www.valentine1.com and click on upgrade. at the bottom put in your serial number and it will tell you whether or not you have the latest.
